Well Doug'
I seemed to happen like this I felt a thud, then all of a sudden the front end of the car dropped, I remember seeing one of the NRHS members grab hold between 3 rails,he happened to be walking down the aisle at that time. Gravel, dirt, dust, and other types of debri turned up by the car swirling in the air,all seemed in slow motion, and at the same time thoughts going through my mind of past railroad accidents I read about, then everything came to a stop, all eriely quiet for a moment, then everybody checking on them selfs and others and then getting off the train fast, and helping those who needed it.
Outside looking around I saw the 611 and 6 head end cars stopped and people hurrying towards the accident and them everyone assisting those with more serious injuries. As for my self I looked like a racoon on that hot day all that dust, dirt, etc sticking to my sweaty face and two white spot eyes peering through that mask.
I hope this has answered some of your questions and I hope that you never have to go through a train derailment/wreck, because I will tell you this if someone says they were not scared. you should walk away from that person. Because I was scared !

Mr. Daniel,
Could you describe some of what you experienced during
that derailment?
