Ron,

Maybe the turntable length will allow you to scale other dimensions from
whatever pictures you may have. Even at that, the length depends on the era
that you are modeling. Documents in our archives show an evolution of N&W
turntable lengths of 60 feet, 75 feet, 85 feet, 100 feet, and finally 115
feet (to accommodate the 108' 3-1/4" engine and tender wheel base for an N&W
Class A 2-6-6-4) plus a few odd balls like the 105' 6" turntable at Payne,
VA. For an interesting comparison, Virginian documents list turntable
lengths of 120 feet and 130 feet to accommodate the 112' 11" engine and
tender wheel base of a Class AG 2-6-6-6.

Documents show turntable lengths at Lamberts Point to be, successively: 75'
(1892), 85' (1910), and 100' (1913). Note that Lamberts Point never got a
115' turntable like the other major terminals. Instead, Class A and Y
locomotives were turned on a loop track.
