The 390 is not an engine number, it is the builder's number. You will also fin this on Baldwin and ALCO plates. The question is, What locomotive was given the builder;s number 390? Someone noted it that it matched up to 613.
Also, it looks to me like in the late 40's the plates were removed from the J's. Take a look at Mr. Miller's book and see if you see any plates in the late 40's and 50's. Of course the fake plates were put on 611 in the 80's so that don't count.

The plates were not removed from the J's. They were relocated to the sides of the smokebox behind the running board skirt and ahead of the steam pipes to the cylinders. They weren't visible unless you looked in the right place.
