J's with aux water tender?

Dave,
I am responsible for the incorrect caption to the picture on Page 4 of the
Steam vs. Diesel article. The label on the back of the picture that I used
read "Hi Bridge East of Farmville, VA," and I took it at face value (because
it did resemble High Bridge), and I failed to scrutinize the picture more
closely.
It has already been pointed out to me by a sharp-eyed reader that the train
is a NS excursion train pulled by the restored Class J, 611, on the former
Southern Railway bridge over the James River in Lynchburg, VA. If I had
looked closer I would have seen the larger river, the absence of the
antebellum piers of the original High Bridge, and the restored 611's
distinguishing characteristics, e.g., the auxiliary water tank, the
extensions on the coal bunker of the tender, and the dual headlights.
I have already sent in a correction to appear in the next issue of The
Arrow, and I apologize for any confusion that my embarrassing error has
caused. At least I am gratified to learn that people are reading the
article.
