I agree with Mr. Bundy. A spot check of Radford Division Timetables
back to 1923 which are the smaller size and easier to get to, never
shows a wye at Fries Junction. There was a wye at Draper (outside
Pulaski) and Fries itself, but not Fries Junction. The wye at Galax was
not installed until sometime after 1923. The Y Class was common power
as a lot of heavy traffic originated on the line. My father recalls
using them there
