NCTM may be the best candidate, both geographically and from the possible operation point of view. Other possibilities in the East; Strasburg PA, and Steamtown Nat'l Historic Site in Scranton PA. Both have the capability to restore and maintain the loco. Considering the history of VTM, the E2 would be consigned to outside storage in whatever condition it would arrive in Roanoke. My fantasy of a few years ago that VTM could operate steam around the Roanoke belt line ain't gonna happen. Same for any idea of resuming fan trips from Roanoke to Bluefield. That's history / Gone with the Wind. Amen.
