Good morning, all:
I observed some N&W motor cars at this site:
http://www.ozarkmountainrailcar.com/new_page_39.htm
This prompts two questions: has anyone researched the
section gangs that used to be on the Hagerstown
district and were motor car sheds were once located?
The other question I have relates to the now-retired
pole lines on the Hagerstown District and elsewhere.
There were once plans that would identify each circuit
on a pole. Have any of those survived? If not, were
the dispatcher and message lines on the lowest
cross-arm always in the same location and designated
by particular styles of insulators? On the C&O,
periodically these arms had a metal "D" and "M"
between the insulator posts for each of these
telephone cicuits.
Good night and good morning (GNGM) for you telegraphers),
