Jimmy:
Norfolk & Portsmouth Belt Line acquired 13 U.S. Army 0-6-0's - seven had
been built by Lima and six at Schenectady. Two of the 0-6-0's were
third-hand, coming from the Midland Terminal. The MT had modified
them to 2-6-0's, but the Belt Line converted them back to 0-6-0's. Of
course,
they weren't lettered for the army, but they did operate on various main
lines--
about 90% of the Belt Line crew assignments did involve trackage rights.
EX: To deliver C&O's from Berkley, N&PBL operated over NS Rwy. from
a point near NS Jct. to Carolina, then on the VGN, Carolina to Q.M. Jct.
