To all concerned,
My father-in-law worked as a fireman on the ACL and then later as an
engineer. He said that the biggest problem on the 1800's was the counterbalancing.
On a run between Richmond, VA and Rocky Mount, NC, he was told that the
driving wheels routinely "rose above the track" when the 1800's got above 70 to
75 miles per hour.
Just a thought in passing.
