Many thanks for the link to the great pictures. For those who like to collect engines painted for favorite roads all over the country - no one can say it ain't prototypical anymore if you want to run em on your NS layout.

Subject: Sample photo opportunities along the Hagerstown District
Good morning, all:
On another list, David B. Davies <dbdavies at cox.net>
posted a link to photos taken this past week along the
Hagerstown District:
http://members.cox.net/dbdavies/news/news.htm Maybe
some of you all may consider these locations en route
to/from the July convention.
The "B-Line" is the former Harrisonburg Branch of the
Southern Railway between Riverton Junction and
Manassas. The few photos from that line are a few
miles outside of Front Royal. As many of you know,
the Hagerstown District forms part of a through
Norfolk Southern route via
Charlottesville-Manassas-Riverton-Hagerstown-Harrisburg.
Consequently, the line north of Front Royal has
substantially more train movements than the remainder
of the Shenandoah Division.
Someone else asked about there being a second station
in Front Royal besides the former Southern station
downtown that is now a visitors center. The N&W
station is similar in style to the one at Radford and
is outside of downtown, next to the former American
Viscose site.
Enjoy the virtual sight-seeing,
