Steam engine "Idle" Coal Consumption

Group,

Does anybody have any information on how much coal a steam engine uses when
the fire is banked overnight or sitting idle between tasks.   I am thinking
the coal consumption rate might be around 5 pounds of coal per square foot
of grate area per hour?   If anybody has any remembrances I would appreciate
it.
