The incident at Walton occurred 12/18/1919 and involved No. 26,
The Memphis Special, rear-ending 2/4.  The investigation is
covered in ICC Accident Investigation #651, complete with pictures
of the signal involved.   So I stand corrected -- it was permissible to
pass the call-on signal WITHOUT consulting the operator.
