Ben:

I'll dig out a picture or two of when the 4610 was our Operations
Lifesaver at the NCTM a couple of years ago. Have a good weekend.

I'm glad to know the 4610 is still around. It came through here about
three years ago and was in the middle of about five engines on a mixed
freight, and was filthy dirty. I am glad she still cleans up well. The
first time I saw 4610 was on the NS Transaer train at Bristol, VA.

The last time I rode behind 611 the 4610 was the diesel assist unit on
our train. It was an absolutely beautiful day that day. Just cold!
Real cold. And as a matter of fact was 12 years ago this weekend. I
used to be real bitter about it, but now I'm thankful to have been a
part of it. Now, I can say to my children and grandchildren "I rode and
worked behind N&W steam." And, for a rail enthusiast like myself, what
could possibly be better than having been a part of something that
brought so much joy to so many people! And I got to enjoy myself while
doing it.

My apologies to NS for having been so angry at them and bitter about it.
I wish I'd have thanked so many people for it when they were still
around. I did see Carl Jensen at 1218's dedication and thanked him
personally, but it was very late in coming from me.

I have finally let go of the anger and bitterness about NS retiring the
steam program. And to all that contribued, here's a very belated "Thank
you"

I never thought about it you guys are right. The business train is in
the excursion era tuscan colors. It came through here a couple days ago
with shiny new rebuilt geeps pulling it headed toward Bristol as a
matter of fact. It made me proud to tell my kids "I used to ride a
train like that behind 611!" And, that was the untimate tribute to the
N&W in its day.

Is the Southern lettered GP59 #4610 still around? *

* It was around last Saturday at Inman Yard's 50th Anniversary.
