VMT sale of NKP 763

I think 611 suffers more from... nowhere to run her. When the NS retired their steam program that was the end of the road for 611 to run. Where could you run a steamer around the Roanoke area? Nowhere. 611 ... and 1218.. are trapped at the VMT because even if they were able to be fired, the NS would never allow them to run under power on their trackage.

      Oh yeah, I can see it now double heading with the NKP 765.  The 763 was looking pretty shabby when I saw her in 1999 during the NWHS Roanoke convention.  I didn't have much hope of ever seeing the 763 in steam again but now there is a flicker in the old boiler.  I hope her innards are in better condition than the exterior is/was.

      Maybe someday the 611 will get a benefactor with deep pockets and return her to steam also.
