While in Florida last month I checked out this nicely displayed steam 
locomotive in a park in Lakeland. Knowing that the original Abingdon to West 
Jefferson N&W Branch began as the Virginia Carolina it was a case of what 
gives?

I'll let some of you respond and then tell what it says on the bronze plaque 
attached to the fence on the opposite side.
