Locomotive Headlight

Thanks for the replys on the Headlight. The reason I ask was I have noticed on my headlights and 
several others that the N&W installed a extra light bulb socket (not wired) in the light behind
the right hand number board. I could not figure this out but my thinking is it must have been for
a spare bulb. Must have been an N&W thing because none of the C&O headlights or other roads
that I have seen have one nor do all the N&W lights.
