Jimmy asked about the "clothes pin..."

I think this was a message clip used by freight
conductors to toss a note off while passing an agency.
 I've seen these used on other railroads.  The large
size added weight so that it could be effectively
thrown from the train towards the station.  It doesn't
have any direct relationship to the ticket cabinet.
