Heavy Coal Shipments
On Monday the Pocahontas division of the Norfolk & Western
railroad turned over to the Radford division 1,240 loaded cars and 28
empties. This is the second largest day in the history of the road.
The largest was the day Superintendent Needles took charge, when
there were 1,270 loads handled by the division.
The coal shipments from the Pocahontas field is very heavy and
constantly on the increase, and the road is taxed to its capacity to
handle the business which is offered.
