Hi:
I'm Bob Warrick..... Author of The Ann Arbor Railroad in Color, History &
Operations 1869-1976.
Ken Borg......... Sent me your note below!.
I am sure you saw Ann Arbor FA-2's on the N&W .... Four went to the Wabash
.... 52-A and 55-A went in 11/63 and 50-A and 55 went in 1/64.....They were
traded for a like number of EMD units then went to LaGrange as trade ins on
the Ann Arbor's new GP-35's.... The FA-2's were assigned numbers 820-823
respectively. 55-A is one that did get Wabash paint job and a new number. (I
am not sure of the other locomotives) They were later leased to the New
Jersey, Indiana & Illinois.........in 6/65, all four were traded to GE for new
locomotives.
The Wabash/N&W lease/merger took a long time............. The Board of
Directors of the Wabash, as part of the process, agreed to sell the Ann Arbor in
February 1961............. The Merger/Lease of the Wabash/Nickel Plate/N&W
was not final October 16, 1964.......... So yes, then those units would of
been under the N&W until the went to GE in 1965.
I have a photo in the book, dated January 1964 where Wabash 821 (former AA
55-A) is leading a GP-9 and a U-25B on a Wabash train in Illinois...........
I'd like to see your shots, especially if the unit is still in Ann Arbor
paint. I am planning / researching an article about those four
locomotives......... After life on the Annie.

Hello again. Seems I've seen a few photos somewhere of Wabash Alco FA-2's
(ex-Ann Arbor) dated in 1965 in service. Wouldn't that date put these units in
N&W ownwership? Many thanks for any info! Dave G.
