N&W Shenandoah Line Question

Regarding crew changing points : did the engineer & fireman on trains  
leaving Hagerstown (in steam engine days) headed to Roanoke change crews in  
Shenandoah, VA or did they go thru to Roanoke ? Were steam engines changed there  ?
 
Also, did the conductor & brakeman change in Shenandoah or go through  to 
Roanoke ?
