N&W Passengr Cars

Here is some information on the Maine N&AW cars that I inquired about. Hope
it's of interested to N&W passenger fans:

 

The three ex-N&W cars that went to the Chuck Wagon Restaurant in Lewiston
were:
   N&W 492    36-seat streamlined diner; built by Pullman-Standard in 1949
for the Powhatan 
                     Arrow, later assigned to the Pocohantas, retired by N&W
in 1971.  
   N&W 1642   64-seat all-steel coach: reblt 1949 w/ A/C & R/B trucks;
former 78-seat coach; 
                     built by Harlan & Hollingsworth 1915
   N&W 1643   64-seat all-steel coach: reblt 1949 w/ A/C & R/B trucks;
former 78-seat coach; 
                     built by Harlan & Hollingsworth 1915
All three cars were original N&W equipment (i.e., not ex-NKP or ex-Wabash).
The two coaches, as rebuilt, had a center partition for service as "Jim
Crow" cars if needed.
