FIRST PASSENGER TRAIN RUNS TO COUNTY SEAT

Regular Schedule Will be Arranged in Short Time--Citizens Are Overjoyed

    Princeton had its first passenger train Sunday afternoon [October 4, 1908], when four cars were run over the new Virginian Railway from Deepwater to the county seat.  The train arrived in Princeton about 2:00 p. m. and was crowded with passengers when it reached the town.  It remained there for some little time and when it left carried a large crowd, some of who piled on the steps as every one wanted to be able to say they had ridden on the first passenger train.  Major Page, president of the road; Mr. Johnston, general superintendent; and Mr. Taylor were among the officials who came in on the special and they remained in town over night, returning to the head offices at Page and Deepwater yesterday morning.  They were met at the Princeton hotel by a number of enthusiastic people of Princeton who are overjoyed to find their dreams have at last been realized.  A regular schedule will be arranged in a short time and trains will be run regularly into Princeton.
