MANAGER DUPUY MAKES TRIP OVER ROAD
------
He Expects the First Trough [sic] Train Over the Virginian to Be Run Next Monday
A dispatch from Norfolk says: "It is possible to say this morning that the Virginia [sic] Railroad [sic] is today completed from Sewell's Point piers to Deepwater, W. Va.," said Vice President and General Manager Raymond DuPuy today, who yesterday returned from a trip up the road, and who was at the New River bridge on Saturday. He said that he found only a few minor details of the bridge to be completed Saturday morning and that these would be completed in the opinion of the contractor, by noon today.
Mr. DuPuy expects the first train running all the way from Deepwater to Norfolk to pass over the road next Monday [February 1]. The work on the coal piers is being pushed rapidly, and there is little doubt that they will be ready for business within the next month or six weeks. If the weather permits continuous work, as has been the rule for the past ten days or two weeks, the big piers can be completed by February 15th, but the further time is allowed in anticipation of rough weather, which will delay operations from now on.

[This expected bridge completion date is a lot earlier than that predicted in the previous day's Bluefield newspaper.]
