BURIED UNDER WRECK
------
Fireman Wheeler Died Before Assistance Could Reach Him

Further details of the wreck on the Virginian late Saturday afternoon, which resulted in the instant death of Fireman W. Wheeler and the serious injury of two engineers and one brakeman, show that it was a head end collision between two local freights. The south bound local, it is stated, was standing on the main line track in a curve near Mullen [sic], and the engineer of the north bound train, thinking that the other man had taken a siding, crashed into his train. Mr. Wheeler was buried under the wreck and died before assistance could reach him. He was unmarried. The remains were taken to Green Sulphur, the old home of the dead fireman, and the funeral was held a 1 o'clock Monday afternoon. Mr. Wheeler was a member of the Hinton Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and the funeral was under the direction of this order. About fifteen members attended from Hinton.
