May Order Big Engines
Roanoke World: Business continues to improve on the Norfolk and Western and when the month ends Thursday, it will be put down as the best in the history of the company. Not only is there a great freight business but passenger business is improving. The company is preparing to order six new passenger engines of the latest and most improved pattern. They are also considering the ordering a number of the big Mallet articulated engines on the same style as the big engines of the Virginian. An official stated this morning that the machinery would be ordered for the Roanoke shops and other shops on the line, and that plans were in preparation for the building of engines.
