CONDEMNING LAND FOR RIGHT OF WAY
------
Raleigh Circuit Court Heard Proceedings Brought for Line Up Tommy's Creek

A special term of the circuit court of Raleigh county was held during the latter part of last week for the purpose of hearing condemnation proceedings brought by the Virginian railroad, which is seeking a right of way for an extension up Tommy's creek and Stone Cove. The proposed extension will probably connect with the Cranberry and Piney road, the property of S. Dixon.
The territory traversed comprises one of the richest mining regions in the state. Some of it is undeveloped and to this the new branch of the Virginian will afford the first outlet. Other parts of the district are reached by the branches of the Chesapeake and Ohio, and the new extension will afford to the operators there competing lines to the seaboard. The Virginian has its extension from Mullens to the mouth of the Winding Gulf, in Wyoming county, almost completed.
