NEW TELEGRAPH [sic] LINE
------
Norfolk and Western runs Wire From Roanoke to Bristol

The Norfolk and Western Railway Company has completed the construction of a telephone line between Bristol and Roanoke, a distance of 154 miles. The line had been in operation for a month between Glade Springs and Roanoke, and the extension from Glade Springs to Bristol, a distance of twenty-eight miles, was completed only a few days ago. Since that time the dispatchers are using the telephone line in giving orders to all trains. It is said that the new system gives entire satisfaction, being constructed upon the best modern principles to guarantee a sure and safe service.
The telegraph is kept for a supplementary service and to meet any emergency that might arise.
