EIGHTY-YEAR-OLD WOMAN IS KILLED BY TRAIN
------
Mrs. Margaret Harold Was the Mother of Eleven Children and the Grandmother of Forty
Mrs. Margaret Harold, aged eighty years, mother of eleven children and grandmother of forty, was instantly killed yesterday afternoon about two miles east of Ada when she was struck by a freight train and cut to pieces. Her blind grandson, who was with her, was also badly injured, but it is not thought his injuries are fatal.
Mr. Harold, who is feeble from age, was walking along the track with her blind grandson, Jake Harold, when both got tired and sat down on a rail to rest. The old woman, whose hearing was bad, could not hear the approaching train and the grandson of course could not see the oncoming engine, so both sat quietly resting while the iron monster swiftly crept [swiftly crept?] upon them from around a curve, striking them before the engineer could see them on account of the sharp turn. The aged grandmother was literally cut to pieces while the grandson was thrown from the track, sustaining severe injuries. The train was stopped but not until it was too late. The grandson was taken care of by neighbors, while silent friends and sympathizers picked up the remains of Mrs. Harold and later notified her relatives of her tragic fate.
[The balance of the article is about relatives and is omitted here.]

[Instead of the "blind leading the blind," this is a case of the deaf leading the blind.]
