This is not at all a flame, but the second Sunday was chosen because of the death of the woman who began the movement that evolved to Mother's Day.

National Train Day's origin goes back to May 10, 1869, when the "golden spike" joined the Central Pacific & Union Pacific Railroads at Promontory Summit, Utah to create the national's first Transcontinental Railroad.

The founders of Mother's Day should have checked their historical calendars before selecting a non-competitive date !!
