inquiry concerning railroad hammer photo

I am looking for a photograph of a sledge hammer from 1840, and was 
wondering if the Museum might have anything of this nature. 
Specifically the type used to hammer spikes into mountains, the kind 
John Henry would have used (to distinguish between a maul). I need it 
as a reference for an art piece my employer, Jason Mortara is working 
on. Do you know where I could find such a photograph?

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
