Bridges in Pittsburg

As you are traveling toward Pittsburgh from the airport on the Parkway, the first bridge near the Carnegie exit carries the line to the west end of Rook Yard, which serves the area.

This is the Whiskey Run Viaduct. There's a walkway on it so crews can get to the head or rear of the train..
Back in '70, N&W quit painting bridges and started greaseing them. The Whiskey Run span crosses high above
the parkway. The grease job on that bridge did OK until summer --- then the grease started dripping off
and onto the Parkway causing cars to skid out of control. Harry Bundy
