C. & O. IS TO USE N. & W. IN TRAFFIC
------
Arrangement to be Temporary Only and Terminates in Two Years
It is learned that negotiations are going on between the Norfolk and Western and the Chesapeake and Ohio railways by which the Chesapeake and Ohio traffic for the northwest is to be handled by the Norfolk and Western from Kenova to Valley Crossing. At the latter point it will be delivered to the Hocking Valley, which is controlled by the Norfolk and Western [sic. Should be Chesapeake and Ohio.] and go over that line to the lakes.
The arrangement is to be only a temporary one, lasting not to exceed two years and will terminate when the Chesapeake and Ohio completes its double tracking work on the main line and the improvements under contemplation on the Hocking Valley south of Columbus. The latter include the bridging of the Ohio, at a point not yet announced.
The Chesapeake and Ohio and Norfolk and Western arrangement would mean the sending of approximately 500 loads a day over the Norfolk and Western and would mean the employment of a number of additional train crews on the Scioto division.
