HEARD IN HOTEL LOBBIES
------
"For months during the fall and winter the coal carrying roads gave the best car service they gave in their histories," said a coal shipper. "The result was that the markets east, west and south were overstocked and now the demand is light just as the contract time is drawing near. What created such a condition seems difficult to say, but if the operator is to be affected by the oversupply to such an extent that he must sell his coal for a whole year at a reduced price then it is not hard to see what created the condition of oversupply, but I hope such will not be the case."
