Just a guess, but I think it was originally 555084. The light color you see is

Subject: Ex N&W Caboose in Bluefield, WV ...

I took a photograph of Caboose NS555584 in Bluefield, West Virginia Saturday at
the yard near the Coal Tower. The NW logo is coming through the side of the
caboose in the below photograph.

Questions:
 
Is there an easy way to know what the Caboose number would of been with the N&W?
 
From the weathering (which makes most model railroad weather look mild), it
looks like the Caboose might of been light colored at one time?
