THNX, for the info. It is G.Kohs who is working with me. Did use the archive search to come up with enough to get George to 'consider' the variation. THNX Again,

Okay, Vern. You want to model the Class A 1226 with the one-off heat exchanger in 1:48 scale in the late 1950’s……………………………….
First, let me recommend Ed King’s Class A Mercedes of Steam book for details and development timescale. Second, use the “Search the Archives” link on our webpage to --- search the Archives for Class A drawings available as copies. Links are provided for the price sheets ( entirely reasonable prices).
Second, you scratch-building or using three-rail for your 1:48? You might see George Kohs website for an A to be built in the near future.
Note that Class A’s were built in four series to make the 43 locomotives , 1200 to 1242, from 1934 to 1950. There were some notable variations between the series. 1226 was built and delivered to service on February 1944. It was sold to United Iron & Metal in August of 1959.
Due to the purchase and use of GP-9’s and RS-11’s for mainline fast or scheduled freights in the 1956-1959 time period, the Class A’s were out of a job and were set aside or scrapped from 1958 to 1959. A number of districts had been entirely converted to diesel power starting in 1956 and the steam servicing facilities had been removed. So Class A’s got set aside fairly rapidly and scrapped.
1200 to 1209 were built between may 1936 and September 1937. They used multibearing cross heads, 275 psi boiler pressure; and were fitted out with the original 22,000 gallon tender with Commonwealth trucks. 1205 and later A’s all used McGill needle roller bearings on the valve gear.

Actually only need the info on #1226. Working with a modeler on this particular 'A'. Had unique mounting of air heat exchanger.

Mr. Vern Howard: Please contact ‘info at nwhs.org’ and let’s see if we can get you answers you can use on Class A’s. Right now your questions are too broad. Ed King’s suggestion to get the Class A ; Mercedes of Steam book is a good one, too. Pretty much everything you need to know is in that book.

Greetings,
Need list all 'A' Class dates of final retirement. If info at NWHS, where?
Need 'division' assignments as well at that time.
Also could use list of maintenance date(s) for each # when solid pilot installed (coincidental to last major upgrades or ad hoc?). Looking for post-war (1946 thru 1950's) installs (and boiler and engine [front/rear] upgrades in conjunction with).
Regards,
Vern Howard
