TWO NEW PASSENGER TRAINS
------
Number of Changes in Schedule to Become Effective June 11
Bluefield is to have two additional trains daily commencing June 11. Direct Pullman service with New York city is assured. This will make eighteen passenger trains arriving or leaving here daily, while Roanoke, which is the junction of the Radford, Lynchburg, Shenandoah, Bristol and Winston-Salem branches of the road, has but twenty-six passenger trains daily over the Norfolk and Western. The new trains, Nos. 2 and 17, will run between Bluefield and Gary necessitating several changes in the schedule. No. 2 will leave Gary at 11:50 a. m., arriving in Bluefield at 2:20 p. m., leaving here at 2:30 for the east, ten minutes later than at present. This train will carry a Pullman and dining car. The Pullman will run into the new Pennsylvania station in New York, via North Philadelphia, arriving there as train No. 40, the following morning shortly after 9 o'clock, attached to the New York and Cincinnati express. Leaving New York as train No. 9, the Western Express, about 6 o'clock in the evening, the train will pass through the Broad Street station in Philadelphia about 9 o'clock, arriving in Bluefield the following afternoon as No. 1 at 1:40 p. m., which is 15 minutes earlier than it now arrives here. Instead of leaving here at 2:15 p. m. as in the past, the train will leave at 1:55 p. m. No. 2, between Bluefield and Williamson, will be known as No. 8. Leaving Williamson at 4 a. m. it will be due here at 11:50 a. m. instead of 12:15 p. m. as at present. This will give those who wish to transact business or shop in this city an opportunity to make their purchases here and go east or west on the later trains as at present, going east on No. 2, or west on No. 1
No. 17 is a new train which will leave this city at 7:30 p. m. arriving at Welch at 9:35 p. m., where it will await the arrival of No. 3 after which it will go to Gary, where it is due at 10:30 p. m. This gives a late train to the people who wish to go from Welch to Gary, as well as a local train to points in the field from this city.
The schedule for the Pocahontas division has not yet been made up but will be sent to the printer shortly. It will show a number of changes in the leaving time of trains in the field which have to be watched closely by those who travel. The schedule will take effect a week from next Sunday.
