"CO SERVICE" is short for "Company Service," i.e. limited to carrying loads 
 for the railroad itself, not for general service. "DF"  stands for "Damage 
 Free" and generally means the boxcar was equipped with a special system of 
 lading restraints intended to prevent the cargo from shifting in transit.
