Was the  official name of the N&W passenger train that ran from Norfolk to New 
ork the Cannonball?

In later years, the Cannonball was combined with the Cavalier between
between Petersburg and Norfolk.  Although shown as Cannonball-Cavalier
in public timetables, No. 16, the eastbound Cavalier, terminated at
Petersburg and cars were handed over to No. 22 for the last leg to 
Norfolk.  Kinda odd, but the crew from Crewe went off duty at Petersburg
and the crew from Richmond handled the train to Norfolk. PRR also had
a train named The Cavalier.  Harry Bundy
