Engineer William Lee Dead
William Lee, an engineer on the Norfolk division and a member of Division 456, B. of L. E. died Tuesday night at Iron Lithia Springs of Brights disease*. Mr. Lee, accompanied by his wife, had gone to the springs for his health. He had been in poor physical condition for a year and was doing nicely at the springs when a sudden relapse seized him and he was asked to take his last engine to the eternal roundhouse. His remains were taken through this city yesterday afternoon on train No. 2 and were met here by a committee from the local division of the B. of L. E. and members of the C. I. C., the ladies auxiliary organization of the order.

Both Legs Cut Off
Passengers reaching Bluefield on train No. 3 last night bring the news of an accident that will result in the death of a Norfolk and Western fireman, whose name was either Hines or Lyons. Just before No. 3 left Ellison [sic, Elliston?] the unfortunate man attempted to board a moving freight train and fell under the wheels. Both legs and one arm were cut off. The man was still alive when No. 3 left, and his immediate death was not expected, though no hope was held out for his recovery.

Gets Virginian Car
C. O'Leary has purchased a handsome Virginian car which was unloaded yesterday. The car has 40-inch* wheels and in size is the largest car in the city. It is manufactured in Richmond, Va.
*Numerals were indistinct on the microfilm. The best interpretation is shown.
[I'll bet you initially thought someone had bought a Virginian Railway car. Virginian automobiles were manufactured by the Richmond Iron Works in 1911 and 1912 according to Wikipedia and other websites.]
