NEW RECORD MADE ON FOURTH OF JULY
------
Pocahontas Division Carried Over 20,000 Passengers Without Accident of Any Kind
The Pocahontas division has a new record to boast of. On July 4 the division, which has a national reputation as a freight producer, carried over 20,000 passengers, with but three extra trains, and the entire twenty-four hours passed off without a single accident of any kind. No passenger train was behind schedule, although every one carried extra equipment. Strange to say not a single trespasser was injured or killed during the twenty-four hours. This is a record which can be pointed to with pride, as on the night before the Fourth and on the Fourth in past years many persons under the influence of liquor have made it a point to get in the way of trains and accidents have not been uncommon during the night.
Special arrangements had to be made to carry passengers to Bluefield, Welch, Pocahontas, Keystone, Williamson, Norton and Coeburn on account of Fourth of July celebrations held in these places. In spite of the long waits taking on and discharging passengers at these points all trains reached terminals on time.
