N&W in 1911--Hauls automobiles

Before bi-level and tri-levels, there were automobile cars --
douible door boxes that hauled automobiles stacked inside.
When fins were "in", one of the higher-ups in the Transportation
Department had to be revived. From his window in GOB-South
he could glance down on the passing traffic.  He'd just seen
a train departing Roanoke with the fins of a Cadillac poked
through the roof.  Apparently Shaffers Crossing had made a
"hard" coupling.                    Harry Bundy
