A reply to a discussion on the modeling list:

It is too bad the K3 wasn't built as a 2-8-4.  Even with the same
dimensions, it should have turned out as a decent engine since the main rod
would have been shorter and balancing easier.  Also the high axle load on
the single trailing truck would have been solved too.  This has always been
my thought with respect to the K3.
