STRUCK BY ENGINE
------
J. R. Cash Has Collar Bone and Right Hand Broken
Yesterday morning about 6:50 o'clock J. R. Cash was struck by an engine about 60 feet west of the Allen street bridge.
Mr. Cash was sitting by the switch box, talking to M. L. Wingfield, the switchman, when an engine backed up the cab track to get a cab. The cylinder cocks were open, blowing hot steam and Mr. Cash backed off from the steam, over to the west yard lead, and engine 854, coming up the west yard lead, struck him on the right shoulder, bruising his body in several other places.
Mr. Cash was taken to his home on Rogers street. He is aged sixty-five years and is the father of John Ernest and Bernard Cash, engineers on this road.
