How close to the tracks?

In there '50s my aunt and uncle were the care takers of Pottsgrove  
Mansion, home of the founder of Pottstown in the 1700s  and at that  time a museum. 
 The rail line from Reading's Main Line between Philadelphia  and Reading 
ran just across the road on which the museum faced.  A cut off  to Boyertown 
ran so close to the caretakers' house that a corner of its property  was 
actually on the railroad's right of way. At the time the cut  off  was built 
the property was uninhabited.  Only years later  did the Pennsylvania Historic 
and  Museum Commission take over the property  and restore it to its 
original condition. Actually the dishes on the kitchen  shelves DID rattle when a 
train passed by.
