Rumor Caused Excitement
    Considerable excitement prevailed here yesterday when a report reached the streets that No. 12, the east bound passenger train from the Clinch Valley, was ditched near St. Clairs.  Relief was had, however, when it was learned that the derailment consisted of a freight wreck and no one injured.  Nine cars of coal in an east bound train left the track and piled up enough coal to last Charley Bailey for some time, as the wreck occurred directly in front of his residence.  Pocahontas division passenger crews were sent out to the point of the accident and passengers transferred and sent on their way rejoicing.  Traffic was delayed for several hours on account of the derailment.  It was reported that two hoboes had been caught in  the smash and buried beneath the coal, but the conductor in charge of the freight stated that he did not believe any one was riding on the wrecked cars.
