[The attached ad from the above-cited Bluefield newspaper shows an attempt to attract people from N&W territory to the country served by the Northern Pacific Ry.  The caption states, in part, "Locate along 'The Scenic Highway'--the Standard Railway of the Northwest.  Get your friends to go and form a colony."  The coal operators, who had trouble getting sufficient help when the coal production was heavy, must have disliked seeing this solicitation of their workers.]
