Numerous Slides on Virginian
This week has been very unfortunate for the Virginian Railway on account of the numerous slides. On Thursday another enormous slide fell into the track near the summit of the Alleghenies, catching passenger train No.13 on its way west, thus blocking it from Roanoke, while another heavy slide near Ingleside prevented it from reaching this place. In consequence two transfers were made Friday and yesterday between Princeton and Roanoke, while the express is said to have been shipped around on the Norfolk and Western, reaching this place by way of Matoaka. The road will be cleared up by this evening, provided no other slides occur. The Princeton yards and all sidings west of here are filled to overflowing with loaded coal trains, ready to move at the instant the line is clear.
