.  He told us about being a VGN Clerk and Weighmaster and working with the foreign crews on coal collier ships docked in Sewells Point.  He enjoyed eating aboard the ships with their Captains and crew.  


Skip:
It didn't happen at Sewells Point, but at Pier 6 at Lamberts Point.  N&W usually kept men  on
deck to direct the flow of coal, making sure all corners were filled.  From time-to-time, they would
go to the galley for a snack.  In railroad nomenclature, there were colliers identified as "Japs",
There was a lull in loading a "Jap", so one of the men went for a snack.  With a mouth full,
he met his partner and said " You just gotta try those onion rings."  His partner responded, 
"They're not onion rings. That's squid."                       Harry Bundy
