There was a tower at Coopers. It was located near the water tank at guard
rail curve. It was retired early and there are not many photographs of it,
but they exist. There is one in the NWHS archives in a book of postcards. I
considered putting it in the Pocahontas Division book but it didn't make the
final cut. The tower was octagonal in shape, similar to the tower at Graham
VA.

Jeff,
Yep. That would be the one. I have not turned up many photos of it.
Thanks,
Dave.

Dave -
There was never an interlocking tower at Coopers. You're probably thinking
about the tower at Bluestone Junction, where the Pocahontas Branch joined
the Pocahontas Division mainline. The switch for the Bluestone Branch was
(and still is) located just west of the junction near the east portal of
Coopers Tunnel.

Alex,
That is what I was looking for, ESPECIALLY any photos of the Coopers control
'tower'.
Maybe the book includes what movements the tower controlled, and their call
sign.
One more for my Christmas list.
Thank you,
Dave Willis.

Dave,
Assuming your question is:
How much coverage, history, photos were included about Cooper(s) in the
Bluestone Branch Line book the answer is:
4 photos, 4 maps or drawings, and info on Coopers is included on 9 separate
pages
There are an additional 7 pages and 12 photos that deal with John Cooper's
Mill Creek Coal & Coke Co which was the basis for establishing Coopers, the
original Mill Creek Branch and Coaldale. Nine of the 12 photos are about
Coaldale.

How much coverage, history, & photos did Cooper(s) obtain in the book
"BLUESTONE, Norfolk & Western Branch Line"?
Thank you,
Dave Willis
