Good day,
Like many others, inspiration comes from O Winston Link and other
excellent photographers who captured the Abingdon branch. I have been
researching this subject, most information is gleaned from the internet
images and The Virginia Creeper from the Ashe County Historical Society
however there are still holes in my research. Any suggestions on where
to find information would be much appreciated.
I have just a couple of questions: May I ask, what was the typical
consist of a 40's branch train - I am guessing that an annuated
passenger or combine car would be suitable along with 40' boxcars for
the furniture factory and other dry goods with a wooden caboose at the
tail?
Unfortunately I have missed the opportunity to purchase the necessary HO
models for the diorama, the Kingmill kit of the station seems to have
long been out of production and I cannot find any plans of the building,
even the availble images seem to taken from the same angle.
Until recently, lack of suitable motive power has stopped me from
further progress but the offer of a LMB M-class has happened, it seems
complete but lacks the sunflower capuchon. Is there a source for this
unique smokestack in HO?
Thanks for any advice for taking on this task.
Tim Hale
